Try Start > Control Panel > Java and under the Java tab check on both "View" buttons that the "Enabled" box is checked. If it is not, check it then click OK; then click Apply followed by OK to close the next box.

OK...let's dig in a little deeper. What email are you trying to use - has it ever worked before on this specific computer? What OS are you running? e.g. Vista, XP etc.

What version of Java is currently installed? To find this go through Control Panel > Add and/or Remove Programs and it should be listed. If the version is not 6 update 11 then you need to update to it. You can download it here http://majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html Be sure to un install the existing version and run a cleaner like CCleaner before installing the new version.

Remember that Javascript and Java are not the same thing. Java was developed by Sun Microsystems and Javascript (originally called LiveScript) was developed by Netscape before Netscape became a part of AOL and then Mozilla and then FF.

If Javascript is disabled, then your best bet is to:

    1. Backup your bookmarks by going to the Bookmarks option and clicking on "Organize Bookmarks". Then click on the "Import and Backup" option and tell it to backup your bookmarks to a file.

    2. Completely uninstall your browser (FF in this case), go in to the "C:\Program Files" and wipe out the folder for the browser. Then click on the "Tool" option at the top of the window where you see all of the icons, select "Folder Options" and set things up so you can see the hidden files/folders.

    3. Once you have done that you will need to go to "C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Account>\Application Data\Mozilla". Inside of the Mozilla folder you should find a folder for FireFox. Delete it.

You should now have completely wiped out your browser. Now re-install it, go back in to the Bookmarks section, re-import your bookmarks, and try it then. Javascript should work ok. If it doesn't then there is something else going on which is affecting how Javascript works.

After you get the Organise Bookmarks window up, you click on File to see the options such as Import bookmarks.

No it does not matter. As Markem pointed out in Post #6 they are 2 different things.

Did you manage to work through all the advice Markem gave in that post? Let us know how far you got and if you need, we can break it down in to smaller steps if this would help you any.

Please elaborate what you mean by get on "search". Do you mean searching in the My Computer?

Also are you saying you are unable to access System Restore through the Start> All Programs>Accessories menu? Please elaborate more on this too. I'm sure we can get you up and running completely with a little more information and details :)

Yeah Lev, there is something strange going on here. Hmmmmmmm.....

When frankytee said: "just put mazilla back on and i tried my emails( bingo)"

It makes me think they are mixing and matching FireFox (FF) with Thunderbird since FF doesn't do e-mail.

Ummmmmm.....frankytee - are you using FireFox or Thunderbird?

Ahhhh! Or MAYBE frankytee is actually using MOZILLA. The older browser pre-FireFox/Thunderbird that has the browser/e-mail combo. Mozilla did contain a search facility to locate information in your e-mails (like To/From/Subject/etc...).

So frankytee - which is it? FireFox, ThunderBird, or Mozilla (the older browser)?

    Thanks! :)

Glad we could help and glad that you got everything back up and running. As the main item on this board says: You should only have one firewall, one antivirus, and one antispyware program running at a time because it can cause problems. This might be what you ran into. :)

At any rate - glad everything is back to working for you! Have fun! :cool
