Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Answer: $566,400........Question: What is the most money one person can win in a single game of Jeopardy?

(That amount is if you got every question right, and doubled the full amount, every time).

I'm taking the Jeopardy online test again tonight, 8:00 pm EST - took it last year, so now I know what to expect. Tough test!

Wish me luck - and if anyone else is taking it, good luck to you!

    Thanks, Lady Dyamond. ;)

The cruelty is, they don't contact you with the test results - you have absolutely no way of knowing how well you do on the test, unless you're invited to the next round. Bummer.

    Good luck!

I'm always yelling at the screen but if I had to take the test, I'm sure I would know about 4 answers. Now that my memory is leaving me, maybe 2.

You never know how you did on it? Only if they invite you to move on or not? I'd have to take screenshots and look it all up after, curiosity would kill me.

I'm sure it has to be tough. Good luck Caliban. Is this automated, or do you have to go somewhere?

My uncle was actually on jeopardy in 2008.

@handygal: Correct - they only contact you if you move on to the next round. The next phase is to travel to a Jeopardy location (the three closest to me are Lexington, Ky, Orlando, FL, or Washington, DC) and conduct personal interviews and more testing, including a mock competition. Jeez!

@Laura: This first phase is a registered Flash version - I had to fill out a questionnaire (basic personal stuff), run some Flash tests to make sure my machine is up to snuff, and I'll login tonight about 7:45 - test starts at 8:00 sharp. 50 questions, all different categories, with about 15 seconds per to read the category, read the question, and type the answer. They do state that they will accept some partial answers: if you type "Philadel" for "Philadelphia", that's ok - they're looking for correct answers, and realize that not everyone is a typing speed demon.

    Damn, I'm already sweating...:heart

Good luck! Let us know if you're invited... that would be the only thing that could get me to watch that show. But if someone from MGs is on, I definitely will. :)

    Thanks again, everyone.

Mims, I'll go ahead and make the public proclamation: if I happen to make it to the Big Show, I promise I'll wear a Major Geeks T-shirt! ;) :-D :major

    Well, that was not fun.

That is one tough test. Out of 50 questions, I'd estimate that I answered maybe 40, and of those, maybe 20-25 I feel confident about. Yikes!

How the hell was I supposed to know that ginger has yellow flowers, or who was the first king in the House of Hanover, or who, along with Aeschylus and Euripides, is considered one of the great Greek tragedists (yeah, yeah - I know now that it was Sophocles, but I don't sit around thinking about Sophocles)...

Jeez - guess I won't be appearing on Jeopardy any time soon. rolleyes

Do people who get on typically get them all right?

Those are certainly not everyday questions.

No idea, Laura. Jeopardy gives zero feedback about the results, and from what I understand, the test questions are different for everyone taking the test, so there's really no way to compare.

I've always prided myself on test-taking ability, but this thing is unreal. 15 seconds to read and type, with no pause between questions. Grueling.
