Jetclean Screws Up Win10 Login

on an HP DV7 2017eg laptop with windows10 64 bit German (irrespective of patch level), running Jetclean results in it being impossible to log on to windows.

The PC worked fine then Jetclean 1.5 from the bluesprig download site [http://www.bluesprig.com/download.php?product=jetclean] was run
(many different occasions separated widely in time)
After running jetclean and shutting down, after reboot, the PC first shows a screen with just date and time.
Upon pressing enter, the login screen with a username flashes for a fraction of a second and reverts to the previous screen.

Recovery means pulling out power and battery three times to get into "automatische Reparatur wird vorbereitet" (automatic repair is being prepared) then choose "Problembehandlung" (problem handling) "erweiterte Optionen" (advanced options) twice

either of these works:

1. do a system reset - and reinstalling all the software thereafter (reset this PC - PC zurücksetzen) (& choose keep my files)
2. restore to a restore point before (ever) running jetclean
