Jetclean

I tried to download JetClean from Majorgeeks for a friend of mine on two different computers with each running a different antivirus and the download stopped every time with the warning that the file is a virus. Any idea why that may be happening, especially from Majorgeeks?

 

What are your security settings for 'User Account Control' on both of these devices?
Firewall disabled?
AV allowances cleared for URL in question?

 

I'll have to check on that when I talk to him. He told me he finally got it to download by turning off his antivirus, by when he turned it back on it was caught and listed as a threat. A scan with Malwarebytes caught it and quarantine it. He then ran the Jetclean file through Virustotal and most of the anti viruses flagged it as a virus. He just gave up on using it. But I was wondering if anyone else may have had the same problem when trying to download it.

 

Why would you want to risk installing something that most of the av programs at VirusTotal flagged as a virus?

If it were me, I'd look for something else.

 

plodr he decided not to worry about it, the only reason he wanted it was because he used to use it on all his other computers and liked it. He was just surprised to see it at Majorgeeks since it's being flagged as a virus.
