I am running linux mint 14 cinnamon, and my wife is running windows 7 home premium. There is a printer connected to her system and I wish to be able to access it. I already know how to do this with two computers running windows 7 but not this way. I tried searching but couldn't seem to find it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have also experienced difficulty with Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 & Vista machines connecting. Inasmuch as Mint is based on Ubuntu, I'm assuming that Ubuntu setup will also work for Samba configuration.

    Try Liberian Geek:
    http://www.liberiangeek.net/2012/10/share-files-between-windows-7-and-ubuntu-12-10-quantal-quetzal/

The Liberian Geek references Ubuntu 12.10, but I see no difference between 12.10 and my 12.04 configuration. If Mint 14 config doesn't resemble the Liberian Geek instructions for 12.10 Samba config, perhaps Noobs Labs instructions will work for you:
    http://www.noobslab.com/2012/03/configure-samba-sharing-between-ubuntu.html

As with all things Linux, there's usually more than 1 way to do something. Both the Liberian Geek and Noobs Lab should get your network browser/printer sharing to function again, although both present a slightly different way to get there (with some common steps between them). Choose the one that works for YOU and good luck!

    Welcome to MG snowman2765.

Is the printer hooked to the Win 7 machine, or is the printer a new one with wifi?

Here is one solution from the Linux Mint Forums

I have Mint Debian Edition on the laptop. I never looked at the version since it automagically updates. Mint is an excellent build!

Is the printer shared on the Win7 network?

Add using Samba and if you are stuck on HOW to do this, it is not impossible. ;)

yes it is a shared printer. my machine can dual boot between mint and windows 7 and if i log on to windows i can print, as long as her machine is running. it is because of small things like this that i keep windows 7 on my machine or i would have abandoned it a long time ago. i haven't logged onto windows 7 in a long time except to do minor things like that, personally i cannot stand it.
