Joint Operations Installation Problem

I recently bought Joint Operations Typhoon Rising, and when i went to install it, an error occured saying there was a problem during set up. (error code: -5004 : 0x80029c4a) and so i can't intall it on my PC. I also got the same error when i tried to install the demo of Joint Ops.
I have managed to install it on my laptop, so it must be something to do with my PC.

Does anyone know why this might happen or have any solutions? thanks

 

what are the specs of your pc....kind of hard to say without knowing what your rig has

is that enough?


I also tried to install another demo recently and it came up with the same error. So, i am guessing it is not just joint operations. Does anyone know if i need to update anything to be able to install it. thanks.

 

what windows platform are you running, what version of directx, amount of memory, memory on your fx-5200 vid card?
all these things make diagnosing your problem just a bit easier

make sure the latest drivers for your video card are installed. You can get those at nvidia.com. Also make sure you have the latest directx installed on your computer. www.microsoft.com/directx

try those and report back soldier

CPU - AMD Athlon 3000+ (2.16GHz)
OS - Microsoft Windows XP Home Service Pack 2
Video Card - NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128mb
System Memory - 512 MB RAM
DirectX - 9.0c

i have got the latest Direct X and the latest NVIDIA drivers, however it still doesnt work. It won't let me install other programs/games either (i.e. photoshop). Is this something to do with the install program? do i need to update that or repair it?

I have not had this problem previously so maybe i have done something to make it go wrong.

If you ever get you Joint Ops game working your going to hate that GeForce 5200 video card. It doesnt play JO well at all. I had one and got rid of it for a Ti4600 instead. That older card plays the game much better.

 

well, i have the 5200 as well and it plays just fine here, i host a few coops and it works very well(of course if u have a 5950 ultra you would like to donate, i would gladly accept)
of course i have most settings at normal, without the full screen anti-alaise enabled.

(it does choke on occasion with very cluttered maps though, but otherwise it is OK for my setup)

my rig is 1400 processer
1000 ram
240 gig HD
Radeon 9600 pro... i have even taken the game back to the shop and changed it! I have also e-mailed novalogic twice now yet i get no reply

the only thing i can say is to go to :
www.nova-inside.com
on the left of the screen, click "FORUMS"
then click "JO:TYPHOON RISING"
check there and they may be able to help you with the problems you have been having.


as an afterthought, have you recently changed video cards....might have some driver issues if you did....

If all else fails, uninstall JO, and try re-installation

I am unable to install it in the first place as i keep getting the error code.

check your drive, under c:/program files/novalogic and see if theJoint operations directory is there....if it is, and the install failed, it could be causing problems
then it would be a matter of deleting the joint operations folder, and trying to reinstall it from there...I have heard of this problem before, with the installation writing files and either aborting or failing, and not erasing the files afterward...
