Joysticks make such poor pointing devices, I'm not sure anybody put a program together to do it. Never heard of one anyway.

I remember seeing something once so I Googled it.
Came up with this one, Joystick Mouse, as old as the page is, it stil downloads the program.
    Here's Gus! Joystick Mouse.

Like G.T. said, don't know how well they will work, joysticks are not as sensitive as a mouse I would think.

    Or NOT,
this site is wide open and download acceptable to the computer science lab at the school where I volinteer. We do get trouble from numerous downloads and installs of utilities, but students learn that way. They have to stick by the computer while we fix it or we tell them how to fix it themselfves,
    Or we reinstall XP.
The porn Nazi's here would drop this site in a second if they found even moderately suggestive material.

I can see why you want one of these. There's too many modern games designed to be controlled using the mouse as the joystick. This control system is awkward, at best, and very clunky at worst. For those of us familiar with the joystick {and even those who aren't}, the joystick is the most intuitive control for these games possible.

In case you're wondering, virtually all new FPS and "Flight Sim" style games for the PC seem to completely forget about the joystick. Now I ask you, which is more intuitive? Pushing a stick in the direction you want to look or go in, or clicking mouse buttons and pushing your mouse all over hell's half acre? Which is easier to perform? If you want to run a complete circle, a lot of these games require pushing your mouse all the way across the room. With a joystick, you just nudge it a little in one direction or the other.

Joysticks aren't expensive, either. Often you can find them for the same cost as a mouse. If you want a good FPS joystick, though, you'll likely want a stick with a second stick known as a "top hat," which I define here only for the newbies who do not know about these things.

A "top hat" joystick is really nice. It allows you to not only run or fly around, but also to use the top hat to look around you as you go. Sticks with this feature are generally more expensive, but if you are really in to gaming, I believe they're well worth it. :)

Joysticks often come with lots of buttons on them. The only problem I seem to keep encountering is the wires to the buttons seems to break on them after a time. I'm certain that, if joysticks were made as popular PC gaming devices as they should be, this problem would be resolved. One solution to I can see, for example, would be the use of brushes in place of the wires with connectors on either end currently being used.

As a serious gamer, it's frustrating to me that the modern, so-called serious PC games no longer support this feature. And those itty bitty joysticks on the game consoles are no match for the hefty, often chunky PC joystick in accuracy, control, useability and comfort. I oft find myself wondering what modern PC game makers are thinking to overlook such a basic feature.

Actually, the information provided in the thread seems very relavent. :) Anyway, I've played a few online games that didn't have any support for a joystick. People seem to think that joystick control is all passe, even for flight simulators these days. It's all about mouse as joystick and push button performance. Nothing about finite control or anything. :-D
