jpeg corruption recovery

I have about 1000 jpegs that became damaged somehow, I know I should have backed up but I didn't manage to in time since I rescently acquired them. This isn't file system recovery as the actual images are damaged and the file system is file. I've done a google search and found a few, and I tried one of them so far but it didn't really work maybe I was doing it wrong. Anyway, does anyone have a jpeg recovery program they recommend that has worked for them?

To give you a little more detail of the problem either I see the image in the folder, and it shows the size but will not open and give me some error about corruption or it will show the images in the folder but show 0 KB as the size.

 

What does thee old dos file size give ye, instead of windows?

As in using the cmd prompt.


I've read, that copying all those jpegs to a new folder may "fix" the "issue". Never ran into that problem.

 

dos prompt gives me the same thing.

And copying them didn't work either.

I tried this program called pixrecovery and it works to an extent but I think the damage is such that I'd need to pay someone like xxxx$ to get it back. This sucks I am seriously considering dropping windows for good.

 

Thanks Tim If those don't work I'm screwed. One of them seems to be working but it's not done scanning, so I'm going to find some wood to knock and pray for the best.
