Hi, I have Googled endlessly but to no avail, many combinations of the words pictures, downloads, can't find, later, help, unable to find, missing, jpeg, problem, disappeared, and probably more that I'm not thinking of. Here's what happens:

When we try to download images (do the right click and "save image as" function on Firefox), it appears as if the image is going to be saved and computer asks for the location etc. (Windows XP) We click "save" but then if we look in the folder (or the desktop or wherever) where we've "saved" the file, it isn't there. Not only is the file not visible in the folder where we asked for it to be saved, it doesn't show up in the "Search" function. This began happening perhaps a day or two ago. We haven't changed any programs, operating systems or any settings except for adding the NoScript extension to Firefox (about two weeks ago).

When I am trying to download a jpeg and do ctrl+J, the "Download Manager" shows up and is completely blank.

Anyone with any idea what is happening to the jpeg images we're trying to download, or how to stop it? Any thoughts appreciated.

I was hoping someone with real knowledge might help overnight. Have you tried clearing the FF cache?

Does it only happen with image files or can you download other types like txt or exe files OK?

If you right click the image and select Copy Image, can you then paste it into Paint?

Hi, Thanks for the replies. It's only JPEG images as far as we can tell. Have downloaded other types of files with no problem. Also I'm not sure how to clear the cache in Firefox.. Help doesn't give instructions how... if someone here can direct me to the mechanism that clears the cache, I would be ever so grateful. I'm going to try the copy paste routine... can I then upload pics to the internet? Thanks in advance!!

Yes, it will "copy and paste" JPEG pictures into word files, any way to convert them back to JPEGs afterwards??

Thanks all :D Appreciate the replies!!

plodr's link above has several suggestions that might be useful. I would try 1-4 for sure.

I use CCleaner to clear the FF cache and don't want to delete my history but I believe in the newer FF versions Tools>Clear Recent History will pop up a window that will allow you to check cache for deleting. [I can't test because I don't want to automatically delete my history] :(

Paint is a simple image editor from Microsoft on all Windows systems. Go to All Programs, Accessories. It should be there.

Any photo editor should work for this.
