This lady accidentally deleted a bunch of pictures from her PC via the recycle bin a week or two ago. Naturally, the PC was used between then and now. Her son realized that the pictures were gone and wanted me to try to recover them. I ran Easy Recovery Pro and it did indeed recover a bunch of JPEG pictures, but none of them will open. They are either "an unrecognized format" or as Adobe Photoshop Elements said "the markers are missing or corrupt". How do I rebuild the markers easily and quickly? Is it even possible? I tried opening the pics with Paint, Kodak EasyShare, PhotoMeistre, and of course Adobe PS Elements. Nothing works.
    H E L P ! ! !

    Thanks!

(to avoid further possible corruption of the pics, I had Easy Recovery Pro save the pics to an external USB drive)

    Hi dlb

Try seeing if XNView will open these corrupted JPEGS, if it will then use save as and hopefully it may create new markers. Powerful app that has helped me on many occasion.

Or try another app I have had success with in JPEGSnoop

But as you will likely be doing anyway, only try these on copies of the JPEGS in case doesnt work.

I tried XnView and the pics errored with "%filename%.JPEG is an unrecognized format" or something really close to that. I'll try the JPEGSnoop and we'll see what happens.
    Thanks.

I guess I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but I can't get JPEGSnoop to do much. I ran it and followed the step at their web site, but I can't get it to actually display a picture. I did get it to find the markers on a few pics, but so what... I see no way to apply the found markers to the picture, save the repaired picture, and then display it. Halo, perhaps you could explain how this is supposed to work. As you probably know by now, I'm no noob with PCs but this JPEGSnoop is kinda weird to use....
    Thanks....

In the meantime, I'll keep messing with it and see if I can figure it out.
