Jpegs not bit?

How go I save pictures as Jpegs and not the rather larger bitm..>
I read to empty one temp files ,I have done that?
When I save image...as,I get no other choice?:confused

 

Download a copy of Irfanview (it's free). You can run a batch conversion to change all your bitmap photos to jpegs. Also, it's great for resizing photos for e-mailing/e-Bay posting, etc.

 

I have "Capture" and "image resizer",they work fine,but I just want all my images saved in Jpeg.
I use XP home.

Then you can delete the original bitmap images (there is a setting where it can do this automatically, but I prefer to make sure I have the images saved first).

the other postings are not addressing my particular problem ,I already have alternative programs to resize images.I want it to do it in one go,but thanks anyway.
