jpg not opening in Outlook Express 6

Hi!

JPG attachments suddenly won't open anymore in Outlook Express 6... again, lol.
In a previous post (that I couldn't find, but thankfully kept my notes) I was suggested the following (below). I did that... again, and the attachment won't display in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Click Start > Run > type in control folders

When Folder Options comes up select the "File Types" TAB. In the list of extensions, locate the following:

JPG
JPEG
BMP
GIF

Select each one and click "Change", in the list find "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" and click OK to select it.

The attachment came from a trusted friend, my Avast is up to date, PC Tools Firewall Plus is up to date, I ran MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware scans. SpywareBlaster is also up to date.

I couldn't agree more. It's cumbersome, not very intuitive, confusing for noobs (and not-so-noobs) and is basically unnecessary. But that's just my opinion and has no bearing on the topic at hand. :-o Sorry. rolleyes

 

Ok... I saved 1 out of the 2 attachments, I completed the above and the first attachment now opens. Yay! Thank You!
But... when I tried to open the 2nd attachment in Outlook Express with the same .jpg extension, it wouldn't open... I did check mark the box with the 1st attachment. Weird, eh? lol

Yeah, I've heard OE is pooop, lol ... I'm just used to it over the years, lol.
