JRE2, Mozilla Firefox and Club Pogo...

I often play on a site called Pogo.com and am a premium member (paid for) to Club Pogo. (*ok.. quit laughing!! :) Anyway, within the last ten days or so, this problem that started out on one game, now seems to be on most of them. I WAS including a screen shot as well but I can't get the darn file size under 97kb ... it's kind of hard to describe.
What you'll see is the screen is divided into thirds, horizontally... with only the middle visible. I asked EA tech support for their help, sent them info and they had me empty cache, cookies, applets, etc. and I did. They had me check my java console which showed I had the latest version. Nothing has helped.
So, I went directly to Sun Java for tech support; they had me uninstall JRE2 (even though it was the latest) and do a download (offline) install of it -- which, I also did. NO luck.
I tried doing a rollback to a couple of weeks before this started, that didn't help either.
The only thing I did notice is in the java console accessed via the control panel, in the advanced tab, when I want to enable Java for Mozilla, it won't let me... and I have admin rights to this computer... I was trying to attach a screen shot of that as well, but again, I can't get the file size small enough. If there's something I can do to get a 166kb and a 200kb .bmp file any smaller, please let me know that as well so I can attach it for you to see.
Neither EA or Sun Java have helped so far. I miss my little pogo-friends (yes, I DO have a real life, too! LOL) and I losing valuable "badge time"!! Any help -- short of a full restore -- would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks in advance
    Maggie

    HI!
    Look in Add/Remove Programs.
What Java version do you have?
THIS is the latest. You can get it HERE: Please do make sure you are using the latest build and these can be found here.

    It's THIS one:

    Toni:
Thanks for the reply.. and now I'm confused... I was sent to Java BY Java tech support ... the link sent me to 1.5.0.60 -- which, from what I see from you, is Update 6. So, you're saying I should try the Update 9, correct?
Do I uninstall the 6 first? (I think that's what I have to do anyway...) I'm not near as "swift" with this stuff as I am hardware and applications that "make" things.. not things that run in the background. (I'm almost getting too old to learn new things! LOL

Thanks again... I'll probably do as you suggest and just let you know (unless you're on here and answer pretty quickly ~)

Uninstall all versions of Java that oyu have now
    Now download and run CCleaner
    Now install Update 9

You can leave what you have currently installed and install update 9.
Give it a 'test run' and if all is well, then you can and should uninstall 6...or the version you have now.

I have never had a problem installing first and THEN uninstalling the older version...even NICK ADSL UK gives that advice.

Yeah but it could be better to start off with a fresh computer sometimes, well thats my opinion, but yes, I have seen NICK ADSL UK give that advice.

In the end, your gonna have to end up uninstalling anyways, so both ways work as effectively.

well, the update didn't make any difference. When I click the java console within Mozilla Firefox, there are alot of errors that say stuff like this:

Error: setting a property that has only a getter
    Source File: http://www.comcast.net/js/global/header_c_002.js
    Line: 1844

Error: Unknown property 'filter'. Declaration dropped.
    Source File: http://www.pogo.com/hotdeploy/us/homepage/include/css/club-pogo.css
    Line: 42 -- and Line 44 -- and line 45

Error: Selector expected. Ruleset ignored due to bad selector.
    Source File: http://www.pogo.com/hotdeploy/us/homepage/include/css/club-pogo.css
    Line: 103

Error: Unexpected end of file while searching for closing } of invalid rule set.
    Source File: http://www.pogo.com/hotdeploy/us/homepage/include/css/club-pogo.css
    Line: 104

I don't have a clue what it all means, but I think that's showing the problem...

    "whad'da'ya' think??

    Thanks, as always
    Maggie
