Hey guys, I'm relatively new to folding (about 5 minutes lol).

I have a dual core processor, right now it's only utilizing Core 0, stanford site said i need to configure it to use both, but not sure exactly how.
    Insight appreciated.

    Thanks,

    From Stanford site

Reasoning for now is that one core will "fold" 100% and when it is needed it will throttle back, if you used both cores you would have to throttle back each seperate core as per demand which is going to require some special programming which Stanford is working on. So for now gimpster123 I would suggest just using the one core, you output will still exceed a single core machine............I know my wife has a dual core and I am stuck with a blazing single core and she is folding at least twice as fast as me :mad:mad

And hey Welcome to the Major Geeks Folding Team, look forward to seeing you climbing the charts:wave

another concern: my current sole folding machine is a laptop. Is this going to cause extra wear and tear on the machine? Right now core one is heating up both cores to between 60-65 degrees Celcius, the fan kicks on at 60, so its running full tilt.

I was considering investing in a cooling pad anyways, suggestions?

Yea gimpster123 most users don't realize that Laptops are not designed for extended usage (anything over four hours continuous). There is just to much Heat Build-up contained in a small area. I got the Vantec Lapcool4 for my wifes, and it works like a charm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834999415. The nice thing about this one is it can be powered from either the USB Port or by its own power supply. It also puts the keyboard back in that comfortable typing angle

Caution: If the environment that the Laptop is in is HOT, do not leave the laptop on 24/7 or it will suffer from Thermal shutdown even with extra cooling.

Hope that helps gimpster123 and Happy Folding

good to know- right now its sitting on a desk, right infront of a window, so if it isnt humid out, i open up both windows and get a cross breeze going

the fan keeps up with it, it won't go hotter then 68 C, but extended use might kill the fan.
