A federal appeals court has upheld a controversial court decision that said file-sharing software programs such as Grokster or Morpheus are legal. Following the lead of a lower-court decision last year, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Los Angeles said on Thursday that peer-to-peer software developers were not liable for any copyright infringement committed by people using their products, as long as they had no direct ability to stop the acts. well, stuff like this won't happen if people are a bit more honest, but then, people aren't and will never be.

 

honestly was never the question. It was purely accusing P2P software developers of illegal activity which was unfounded. It's like suing manufacturers of hammers because some idiot beats someone up with it. The hammer itself is not illegal but the action of the wielder of said hammer is.

 

yes, i know. but i'm just saying that if everyone was honest, p2p softwares would always be used responsibly, and none of this p2p bs would have ever shown up. I am happy that the courts made the right decision, but i'm not happy about the people blindly stealing stuff without regard to others... well, i'll just leave it at that before a "discussion" takes place.
