I just recently bought a Lexar JumpDrive. when i plugged it into my computer it started going into what looked like the instalation process. But then this window came up that prevented the instalation: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/Lynchy217/0ef7b7eb.bmp

The jump drive works on another computer but not mine...any ideas?

Don't worry about it, click Continue Anyway.

All it means is that the company hasn't paid Micro$$oft money to test the drivers.

It doesn't mean it won't work or isn't the correct one.

You can turn that warning off if it annoys you, but it's not a big deal.

The two aren't necessarily related, and you should have included the above screenshot.

Anway, did this drive come with drivers or software that have to be installed first?

What was the operating system on the "other PC" it worked on?

Please provide precise information so someone can help you.

You may know what is happening on your screen, but we don't.

It didn't come with drivers or software it installed itself automatically on both of the other computers

when i plug my printer into the same usb port, the port works fine

the operating system is the same as the one that it works on

And the operating system is what XP?

XP doesn't require drivers but 98 does.

Is this a USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 port you are using?

Have you tried to use it in Safe Mode?

    both operating systems are Xp

It should be USB 2.0, not 1.1.

What are the ports on the PC's where it worked?

To start in Safe Mode, reboot and repeatedly tap F8 and you will get a screen with startup options where you can select Safe Mode.

Once you have finished just reboot without pressing anything.

ok i tried updating the driver from 1.1 but it just said that it can't complete the update because its the highest version possible.....safe mode did not work either.....

USB 2.0 is a hardware protocol, so your USB port must be a USB 2.0 port.

Look in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers and it should say "enhanced" if it's USB 2.0.

If it's XP and you have SP1 or greater, then that installs the necessary drivers for USB 2.0. There is nothing to update.

However, if it's only a USB 1.1 port, you can't just update the driver to make it USB 2.0.

It must be USB 2.0 to begin with.

You have to establish if you have USB 2.0 or not on this computer.

On the other computers that it worked on, did they have USB 2.0?

it doesn't say "enhanced" on either of the computers so im guessing neither of them have usb 2.0

    No, probably not.

USB 2.0 is relatively new, so only hardware made in the last couple of years or so would be, and any older probably not.

I have no idea the specs of either of these machines.

Also, XP on it's own doesn't support USB 2.0.

You must install SP1 or SP2 to get USB 2.0 drivers and enable it.
