Jumping keyboard, double-click not working

I recently had to replace the hard drive on a Gateway Pentium Dual-Core notebook and reinstall Windows 7 Professional SP1 OEM. It has all current updates installed.

The keyboard works fine in MS-Word; however in Gmail the cursor will jump randomly when composing an e-mail message. Since this is a fresh install and no old files were transferred back to the PC, I know it is not a malware problem - a full scan with Malware Bytes confirmed this.

Disabling all add-ons in IE11 and Firefox reduced the frequency of it, but it still happens about every two paragraphs.

Issue #2 is that - after installing ACDSee off a genuine disc - the "double click" no longer works to open documents (it does, however, work to open programs). I have to right-click and choose "open" instead.

Any ideas on how to solve either or both issues are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi

All drivers are current latest versions and Chipset driver was installed on reinstall of Windows? I would re-install the Chipset driver again and reboot, even uninstall the keyboard driver and reboot so the driver re-installs, just in case its just a bad install of a driver.

Check in Safe Mode if the same issue occurs as this could be linked to 3rd party software and one of your startups maybe, could be over zealous AV.

for #2 try running sfc /scannow
but likely a file association is now missing after install of that app, it should not have changed anything but never know...
Do check in Folder options > General Tab that double click to open items is checked
