Jumpy Scrolling & Dragging!

i dont know if anyone can help, but im desperate. im running XP Home w/ SP2 (the problem was here before SP2) on an HP pavilion ze4600 laptop...the computer runs GREAT, except for one glaring flaw...all windows scroll VERY jumpy, and the same thing happens when you drag a box across the screen, its all jumpy & doesnt drag smoothly...ive tried all kinds of settings, im the "administrator", ive checked mouse settings, everything...if anyone can help me, please!!!!

 

i know this is gonna sound like 'duh' but have you cleaned the mouse?

 

Try this. Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced Tab, then under Performance, hit Settings. Write down everything that's checked in case you need or want to revert back to your defaults. Now hit "Adjust for best performance." I always run this option and never notice a difference in the display quality. If that doesn't work and you are using a USB mouse, try switching to a PS/2 mouse. My mom had this same problem and it turned out to be some kind of USB timing issue. It's like her motherboard couldn't handle more than one USB device or something.

You also may want to make sure all the drivers for your motherboard and video are updated.

 

Also, go to Internet Options, click the Advanced tab, under Browsing, scroll down and make sure Use smooth scrolling is checked.
