    My position is this:

    Global Warming - REAL
Global Warming Action Plans - FAKE (at worst, poorly thought out at best)

Not sure which this is in protest of.

I was just siting places you could read up on the obverse of your belief. I'm not asking you change the way you think. The way I see it, real or not, the more balanced the beliefs are, the better off the world is going to be. I mean, it was fine in 1999 before Al Gore "Use to be the next President of the United States." but now that there are troves of doom and gloom people, we might as well stay balanced, so as to do as little harm as possible.. Watch the news, we're nearing the end of global warming, something else will come up soon.

This much I can agree with. You have to consider many differing viewpoints in order to seek the truth (if you don't have the raw, unprocessed data, or tools to get it), and that it is unwise to rush into action.

I disagree that it was fine before EITHER of Gore's campaigns, though, and his movie came out after both. He was discussing it in congress as early as the late 1970s. His first presidential campaign was in 88, and he dropped out of the running! I think its perfectly reasonable to suspect him of using it for political leverage (although, I don't see how that's different than standing on any other political platform), but I also think he's sensitive to that concern, since he claims to have no further plans on running. Whether that's true or not, we'll see. But, a bit of a chicken and the egg argument, though. Is he using his environmental agenda to further his political agenda, or vice versa?

I do watch the news, but I find it almost always has a bent away from the science. Research into interesting stories almost always leaves me with shattered illusions.

What I HAVE witnessed in the news is a major power struggle over the arctic!

Russia is sinking subs under the North Pole
The US is disputing Canada's claim to territorial waters in the arctic circle
Canada is fortifying the NWT in response to both *YIKES*
Denmark and Canada are just settling a regional dispute in the arctic
(There's another country with claims, but can't remember at the time)

All sides are saying that their heightened interest in the arctic is due to the melting ice making mineral and oil extraction easier.

And there's my personal experience, however it fits into the greater scheme of things:

I remember digging tunnels into snowbanks big enough that I could stand in.
I remember overnight snows burying my family's cars from the axels the day before to over the roof the next morning.
I remember ripping around snowbanks on my little skidoo, and loving when it would send me flying off, since they were deep enough to make for a soft landing.

I've mostly given up snowmobiling because the conditions just haven't cut it in the last 5-8 years. The worst winters here lately seem to be just icy and slushy as temps oscillate up and below freezing. This year, I went through the entire winter on my worn out all season tires. Never bothered to mount proper snow tires. I suppose it was a BIT of an exception to the downward trend I've seen, but still nowhere near the effects I had seen in years before. None of the above happens any more!

I see lots of valid criticism of the global warming model, but am still waiting on an equally comprehensive model showing an alternate reality. I'm beginning to doubt anyone is up to the task of invalidating the work that's been done on it. All this bickering over it that I've seen has merely been a war on perception, both sides VERY guilty of poor information.

Ahh, good sources underlying your linkage, Paxt!

I'll have to check out this Seeds Of Destruction book! I'd like to see Engdahl's work!

Shall we cork the volcano's too? or maybe have them emit little compact fluorescent light bulbs instead of molten rock and co2?

I opt to stay away from this subject from here on out..

The earth has been fixing itself for billions of years before man ever messed it up.. let's compare a cow fart to that of a brontosaurus...

I like you mada, I respectfully disagree with your belief on Global Warming, and am walking away from this conversation. I don't think we're doing anything that's going to throw mother nature off her balance. When the earth is sick of us, we'll be gone.. There's nothing pro, or con that we're going to do to change the earth, and the balance of "Global Warming" I'm sorry. Recently the earth has been cooling. You might not have the snow banks you use to as a child, but I just had a 40 degree May..
