Just a few questions on defrag

I am new to all this, and i just want to know what exactly does defragging do on and to the computer. Does it make your computer faster in anyway, which i hear a lot. Is there really anyway to make your computer faster, on the internet and in general, like downloading fps games, mp3 files, divx movies and photoshops without internet connection. Im just wondering is there a program i can download that will speed up my computer or do i need a couple different programs to do different tasks?

 

but is there a way that i can speed up my internet and downloads? and can you suggest any programs i should download to remove all of the un-needed files on my laptop, and any other data or files that would make my computer faster in all ways, also i dont have the fastest laptop, and what is a good site for games torrents that you suggest if you use torrents, or a safe site for most recent and all games for pc or ripped?, that i can download, im looking for the newer gta for pc, and like .rar files, and all that compression stuff for like files i downloaded, mostly games, dont work because they say i am missing a file, invalid, or i did the process of unloading or 7-zip'ing the file (game), thanx man

 

What browser are you using? I have found Opera to be faster than Internet Explorer.
As far as speeding up your internet connection, a better, faster ISP is really the only way. Be like going from dial-up to cable.
Increasing RAM (memory) is one way to speed up your machine as it will be able to hold more and can let you have more web pages open without lag between going from one to another.
Defragging puts all the files for each program closer together so your drive doesn't jump here and there to find all the pieces.
