  1. Hi guys,
thanks for all the help youve given me so far. I was just wondering some question. I am running a pc with windows xp service pack 2 and all updates are installed and i only have 191MB of ram to run it on. I know i know its not alot but im dont have the money to upgrade it at the moment and am running freeram xp pro version 1.40. It seems to be helping performance but i heard that you dont need freeram if you are running windows xp. So i was wondering if it should stay or go on my computer. I know its a stupid question but if every mb of ram counts in this system its better to know than not know. thanks for all the help

I dont know if Windows XP needs it, but if it is helping your system by making it faster then you should keep it.

I've been testing FreeRamXP on systems with less than 256Mb of memory; and it is definitely helping system performance. I set the refresh threshold to 64Mb of RAM. I would keep it on your system until you can afford some memory.

  4. Just to think ahead a little bit i will keep it on here for now. I can max out the ram at 512 MB. if i max it out should i keep freeram on or take it off of the computer? Just wondering so i know what to do ahead of time.

If you don't have a lot running the background, after you go to 512Mb, you probably don't need to run FreeRamXP.

Windows XP will unload applications from ram after a set period and uses its "prefetch" folder for later access as everything you run gets stored there as a small locater file.
Windows XP doesnt generally need any help freeing ram, however
Free Ram will FORCE all resident .exe`s and applications out of ram not currently in use and CAN slow performance down if those files are used regularly in one session (windows having to reload them again) however this is a rare occasion and i would only use free ram if i was going to play a game or after i played a game just to get things back to a "restart" level :)
It has Pro`s and Con`s just depends how you use it :)
