    Computer info:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Media Series DG965WH
    2.40 G Intel Pent. III
    2048 Ram

    WinXP Pro SP2(build2600)

    Existing drives:
    (two) Lite-on DVDRW's
    (two) WDC WD160G

I just added a Maxtor 7L320 .... XP saw it, installed it, and says it is ready to go .... according to sys info it is located on scsi port 2, but bios settings says it is on scsi port 4.
Maybe this is why it is not showing up anywhere on my computer that I am able to access it on. I can see it in "writing" but not when I open explorer.

Sure wish someone could help me out here ... please??? :cry:cry

The drive is unformatted and you must first partition and format it for use.

Go to start> run and type in diskmgmt.msc

From there you can view all of your disks and configure partitions and formatting. Right click on the new disk and format. :)

It is not in the list at the top but it is listed below as "unallocated" which I have no idea what that means.
Right click ... new partition, properties, help ... are the only options

I chose new partition ... hopefully I clicked all the right boxes and right now it is formatting. I even assigned it a drive letter.

Thank you very much .... hopefully now everything will be alright and I don't have to bother anyone again.

    Thank you
