Just added two .5 Gb ram to my system and

the system's power failed to come on?:confused

 

I just had a look and there are two slots,one black one blue,my existing ram (1GB) is in the blue.
I had attempted two place the 2 new .5GB in the black slot,as each unit has two slots.
Was I right to try and put them in the black?

 

Are you sure your system can handle 6gigs.Do you know what kinda Mother board you have.

 

So, to clarify, you had 1x1Gb stick of RAM previously and now you are trying to add 2x512Mb sticks of RAM?

The motherboard may not like 3 sticks of RAM. Typically, they prefer adding two sticks at a time. Can you try removing the 1Gb stick and putting the 2x512Mb sticks in and see if it works?

Also, you're motherboard should be giving off beep codes that you can look up in the motherboard's manual to decode them. (assuming you have a speaker plugged in to the motherboard. separate from the speakers you use for playing music, for example)

 

lol that's what i was trying too figure out what this person is saying.I don' think they make a 5gig stick as far as i know.

I will try the two half gigs alone.
I do not believe my mother board has separate speakers.:major
