Are you saying the Sygate free version firewall is no longer supported?

 

No, its not! Symantec bought Sygate, and this particular product is no longer "officially" available. Hence why you can't get the actual user's guide, and registration fails. It is still a great f/w, though, hence why Majorgeeks continues to host it.

 

I use the word "hence" too much.

 

Glad to hear it is still supported. I am using it on my new XP Pro system that I got last week. Tried AZ firewall, which I used on my old system, but it slowed XP Pro down unbelieveably.

 

I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood me. It is NOT supported by the company that developed it. You won't be able to get updates, or call Sygate for help, or download the "real" user's manual.

 

So what firewall freeware is being recommended now besides AZ?

 

Besides Sygate, there is Kerio Personal Firewall, Outpost Free Edition, or for the more technical user, Ghostwall
