Just felt like posting some temps....

I was bored.... I also have been considering installing a new CPU cooler. Not that I really need it, but I just kind of want it. rolleyes Anyway, I figured I'd run some Everest UE stress tests just to see how hot my CPU could get. I was VERY happy with the results. I've seen CPUs that idle hotter than my CPU got after an hour of loading both cores of my Athlon X2 5400+ to 100%. I'm using an AMD heatsink/fan. It's not the stock unit (I bought the CPU OEM- meaning I just got the chip without the cooler). I have no idea about the origins of my heatsink; it has an AMD holographic sticker on it, 4 heat pipes, and the fan is parallel to the mobo. It's not the same fan that's shipping with some of the higher end X2's, and it's not the fan shipping with the X3 or X4 Phenoms either. I think it may have been the stock cooler for the first generation of X2 6000+ chips..... So... whudduyallthink of these temps? Should I look in to getting a different cooler?

People frequently 'donate' boxes of PC gear to the shop where I work. This cooler was in a box of old socket 462 motherboards, old low wattage PSUs, and assorted cables and fans. An older woman dropped it off saying "my son was in to computers and left for college; here's a box of junk he wanted us to throw away but I though you might be able to use some of it". Right on top in a zip-lock baggie was the cooler I'm using.... like I said, pics will follow....

Ok there dlb I'll be awaiting the pics. I was going to build a water cooled unit but I didn't think I'd need that much cooling. I'm opting to build a fan cooled one and I'm starting from the ground up. I'll post some pics as I progress. I'm bored too !
