I just got a newish machine. Intel mobo, P-4 2000. It is rumored to have a 200Gb hard drive (WD-2000)that used to be C:. I have that drive and it has XPpro on it. I am NOT keeping up with technology, that's what you guys are for! The drive is a sata. I have never hooked up anything past IDE. The back of the drive has a 15 pin, a 7 pin, 4 jumper positions and a 4 pin power connector. The machine has no cables in it to connect to the 15, just for the 7 pin and 4 pin.
Is that all I need to connect this thing? Just the 4 and 7 connectors? Is the 15 an alternate connection type, like faster or RAID?

All you need is the 7-pin data cable and either the 4-pin Molex power connector featured at right OR the 15 pin, BUT NOT BOTH!!! I can't remember if they should be female molex's but you get the drift. I never heard of jumpers on a SATA but that doesn't mean they don't exist. If it's the only drive then make it Master.

Thank you a lot. I should have this thing reassembled later this evening. Then the fun begins!
