I just upgraded from win 98SE to Win xp home, and ever since then, none of my 3 rom drives are working correctly. I have 3 seperate drives, one is a pioneer dvd player only, 2nd is a memorex cd-rw/dvd player combo, and the third is a TDK dvd+rw. I can stick and and all sorts of discs in, from computer games and programs, to music cds, and to dvds, none of them start up like it normally does with xp asking me what I want to use to play them. and even the comp games don't just run anymore. With all the discs I have actually go into them the "my comp" and even then the dvds don't work at all, only takes me into the audio and video files, if I right click, there is no "play" option only open and explore. the music cds work, but I have to open media player itself, then tell that to open the cd. Someone please help as this is starting to drive me nuts, been like this for 2 weeks, and of course microsoft is no help. Another thing is when I try and use my dvdxcopy platinum, when it tries to read some of the dvds, it gives me an error of "no video ts files found", but they are there. is this because there is something wrong with my drives? It doesn't happen all the time, sometimes even on the same disc I just put into a different drive and works. I can't watch movie at all on my comp, but I have 3 seperate dvd players on here. Please someone help me out asap, either thru here or at datboytaz@aol. thanks for your time

    Try this:

Open My Computer. Right-click any of the drives and select properties. On the Auotplay tab, configure the autoplay actions of your choice.

Thanks for the help, my problem is that I kind of like being able to choose which program to use to play what ever it might be, and while what you told me will work for autoplay, I need it to ask everytime. The thing is under the propeties page it has the prompt box checked, but it doesn't prompt me or ask me to do anything at all when I stink the disc into the any of the drives. but yet if I stick my compact flash reader in, it ask me what programs do I want to use, I don't get it. Please help
