Sorry I know this doesn't really deserve a post but I was wondering, which program was it that speed up starting your computer and opening Internet Explorer. I thought it was CounterSpy but that made it slower

i've done all that, disk clean up, defragment, cleaned out cookies and temp. internet files and i've even downloaded CleanUp that deletes hidden unused files

Probably need more info. Counter-Spy is not a speed up tool. If you think you are infected and that is causing slowdowns, then try our spyware removal thread:

From there, you might consider a tool like CCleaner, clean your drive, remove unwanted startup items and scan for registry issues all from that one tool. Follow that up with a disk defrag and see how she runs.
