Justified text in Word 2000

I have an enquiry with word 2000. When I try to Justify text, all the lines, take up the full width of the page i.e. including the lines that only have 1 or 2 words in them. Even the letter heading and the address are stretched over the whole width of the page. I have tried selecting paragraphs individually and then dealing with the rogue lines on their own but they get justified regardless. It's driving me crazy!

 

I don' t have a copy of word 2000 on my machine but I can't help thinking that you're using DISTRIBUTED spacing as opposed to JUSTIFIED.

 

Thanks for your thoughts ....I don't even know what distributed text is. Word only has 4 options... left, right centred and justified as far as I know.

 

I find exactly the same with Word 97, tho' for some reason it doesn't happen all the time.. I get round it by selecting the problem line and then choosing 'align left'.

 

Thanks for that but the problem exists because I imported text from Outlook Express. Hope this is of some use to you.

 

Not sure why that would make a difference, but if the text is imported, have you tried copy-paste special, rather than just paste? Not sure that it would work but it might be worth a try.. Or - just a thought - can you make the last sentence a new paragraph?
