Kaspersky keeps getting stuck

I'm trying to run a scan with Kaspersky. I've had the software for a good few months and never had a problem. I updated it a few days ago, and whether I do a quick scan or a full scan, it gets stuck at C/WINDOWS/WinSxS/x86_Microsoft.MSXML2_6bd6b9abf345378f_4.1.0.0_x-ww_b319d8da/msxml4.dll
I have updated Kaspersky since it happened, and it's still happening. I have no idea what the file is that it gets stuck on, and it predates my installation of it.

Any ideas what's up?

 

I am using Windows XP with Service Pack 3.

I've had a look at kaspersky and I can't see how to exclude something.

 

Kaspersky is now set to exclude MSXML. So, it's decided to get stuck on WMP3E_Temp\config.dat instead. Is this something else that I should try excluding, or is a temp file that can be cleared with CCleaner or something?

Also, by excluding MSXML from the scan, I'm obviously leaving a chink inmy armour - what are the dangers here and is it something that Kaspersky should be made aware of?

 

I always run CCleaner before a scan. It's only since Kaspersky's been getting stuck that I haven't. I shall update MSXML and retry.
