    Hey guys,

I'm now using the McAfee Security Suite 2005 with firewall and antispam programs along with the antivirus. It's pretty nice and working just fine.
I've read that Kaspersky antivirus is better the McAfee and all the others and has more updates, and detects more viruses.

Is that true? Should I use Kaspersky on my computer, along with a firewall such as Sygate for instance, instead of the McAfee suite?

    Would appericiate your help,
    Nir.

I'd have to agree with that statement.

toss up between McAfee Suites and KAV I would go with Kav every time, McAfee like Symantec have fallen into a pit of wanting to offer every bit of protection under the sun and have ended up IMHO with apps that bog down PCs and cause all sorts of weirdness.

NOW if you use their Enterprise, Pro or Corporate applications then thay are very good at just antivirus protection.. which is what they should concentrate on.

BTW.. just as a side note I do use McAfee Pro7 and have done for years as its not let me down yet.

hmmm... I'm using the latest McAfee with VirusScan ver. 9.1, Personal Firewall Plus ver. 6.1 & Spam Killer ver. 6.1.

I would choose kaspersky because it has better detection rates, updates every hour, good protection, and it doesnt hog up system resources.

I used to have Mcaffee until someone told me to try Avast and it found 8 trojans that Mcaffee missed.

If you do try Kaspersky and Sygate I recommend that you disable Kaspersky's IDS feature when installing it. They will NOT play nice together otherwise. During install of Kaspersky you will see a check box that says something about using recommended settings. Uncheck this. the next screen you will see 2 more check boxes, uncheck the on that deasl with protection against network attacks (not needed since you are running a firewall). That's it. Should you need help visit their forum.

I had serious issues with Kaspersky running on my machine. I paid for both the antivirus and firewall that they make, I ended up having to uninstall both, and get a refund.
    IMO they are buggy programs.

Sorry to hear that MellowMan... Eveyone's system will react to different software. With MellowMan experience I would atleast run the trial before buying. I have used Kaspersky Antivirus for years and haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood). As for their firewall, there are better ones out there....

Personally I love avast!. Its a great AV solution. I used to like AVG till it went to crap and stopped updating and never detected anything.

Mcaffee or Kaspersky... i'd go Kaspersky, just because I don't like Mcaffee's big "suite" products. I like their virus research labs for writeups though... they're nice and thorough.
