I am looking to purchase an anti-virus software but I have my options down to these two. Can someone enlighten me on which to buy and reasons to buy the particular product? Also will I be able to install this software on only one computer because I will soon be buying a new computer and was wondering if i can transfer the av to the new computer?

Remember theres always free software out there that can do great job as well. And you can download and install that software as many times as you want for free. I never use those programs. But I heard and know they are good and Id probably say Kaspersky. Finally remember its not the badest or most exspensive antivirus program you get that will protect your computer but the user. You could have a great program and still be infected.

I forgot to adress your point about transferring to a new PC...

I'm not sure about NOD but you can transfer kaspersky easily, you simply uninstall from the old PC and reinstall on the new (ther is supposedly a limit to how many times you can swap but i have never reached it)

I have used Kaspersky for years and recommend it without hesitation.

However i also run Avira (free) on many machines aswell, but if you can spare the cash Kaspersky is a very good buy.

And one huge benefit of a paid AV especially to less advanced users is Customer support, which is excellent from kaspersky (and i would imagine NOD aswell)

I've installed ESET NOD on about a dozen computers for a senior citizen I help. She has both office and personal computers. (Two different types of licenses). The installs seemed pretty straight forward. I have had no experience with Kaspersky, though it does seem to be liked too.

Personally, on my home computers (currently 9 in the house - two are not mine) I run Avira's AntiVir.
