Kazaa Lite?

I heard that Kazaa Lite is loads better than Kazaa and doesn't have the butt-load of spyware that Kazaa comes with. Is this true? Will Kazaa Lite mess up my computer like Kazaa tends to do?

Would you recommend any other program for file sharing?

 

You could try bittorrent, but the MPAA/RIAA are shutting the sites down as I type. Too bad though, got my Mandrake this way, may mean that they may charge in the future for a dl.

 

for legal downloads bit-torrents are supported by this site and is a fast (up to and over 300k in some instances) P2P program, most recommended are ABC,Azureus

If looking for legal music downloads, there are many sites and also napster, i don't know about pricing, but atleast the RIAA won't be after you.

If your looking to use it for illegal usage, you need to read the rules, its a no no here!

Kazaa Lite ++ has all the spyware removed and it didn't mess up my computer. It is nearly impossible to find, though, since Sharman Networks (developer of the original Kazaa Pro {pay version w/o spyware} and Kazaa Lite {'free' version with spyware bundled}) serves anyone who hosts it with cease and desist orders. I'd recommend eMule, WinMX (found at MG http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads17.html) and Shareaza http://www.shareaza.com/ as better and more available alternatives. I'm sure I don't need to remind you that distributing copyrighted material without permission is illegal.

From what I heard its not illegal to download, just upload. Is this true? Its my whole basis of reasoning for not using bittorent since bittorent basically relies on the fact that you are uploading something. I downloaded Kazza Lite K++ Resurected and it seems to be working fine. My spyware utility says its clean at leaste. And I can turn off uploading to.

 

No, it is completely false. It is illegal to both upload and download copyrighted material w/o the author's permission. If you check, most of the people who are sued are downloaders, though they go after uploaders, too. It's a crime both ways.
