When you say you've installed it 5 times, do you mean you've wiped, then reinstalled it x 5 but still can't get it to work properly ?

Did it ask you if you wanted to retry or skip a file during the installation ?
This has happened to me a time or two. I think it was due to a file on the installation CD not being correctly read by the CD or DVD drive. If it is that, the only thing I can think of is either try a different CD drive, or a different CD.

Not heard of this problem before. Try checking services to make sure that "Themes" has been put on automatic

Go to Run, type in services.msc and hit return. Scroll down the list of services and locate Themes. Check to make sure the status is Started and the Startup type is set to Automatic. If not set to automatic, right click it and select "Properties" from the menu that pops up. Set the start-up type to Automatic. Reboot.

Also, go to 'Start - Settings - Taskbar and Start Menu - - Start Menu (second tab on menu that appears)' and make sure the "Classic Start Menu" button is not selected.

Not sure what else to check. I prefer using the classic interface, and so have little experience with the XP themes and menus.

Welcome to Major Geeks, and good luck!

I just want to know... you say you're running Xp, is it Pro, what SP & are you currently using Microsoft's LIVE suite? (mail server, messenger, etc).
I'm having similar prob's too. rolleyes

I'm not entirely sure (don't quote me on it) but I'm wondering if all these theme prob's people are having are related to Microsoft's LIVE suite. :confused
I'm fairly sure it hasn't anything to do with IE8 because I've got that & Mozilla's FireFox v3.5.2 & I still end up with CLASSIC theme on BOOT-UP. :cry

A problem shared is a problem halved. ;)

    Ooop's. :-o

I'm still getting classic theme every time I boot-up.
I've tried various 3rd party app's & I still end up with classic.
I've removed the 3rd party app's, still no change.
I've even copied the THEMES folder from one computer & dropped that in.
    Guess what... Grrrrrr :confused:cry:confused
I'm going to try removing the LIVE suite & see if that changs anything. :confused
    Have you any comment's?
