Keep Losing IP... DSL to Cable Move

Greetings Geeks. A friend has DSL at home, but is visiting me with hs Cable. To get him on the internet I must release/renew his IP Config each time he starts his PC or it comes out of hibernation. I thought I could make a change to the reg, and I did, changing the value to 1 on "ipenablerouter". Thought a private IP was being created at each startup. This seem to have worked, started up a couple times...no issue. He gets up this AM, no internet. Back to square 1.

Could y'all help me out...again.
