Keeping Direct Connection Open with McAfee

Hello!

At the beginning of the month, I updated McAfee. It was a huge update which added new features, offered new options, and basically made the set-up look pretty. Ever since that update, I have not been able to maintain a direct connection via certain programs. I can access the internet just fine, but when I open a direct connection in certain programs, after about ten minutes I get disconnected. These programs are AIM and MUSHclient (a text-based RPG client).

I have uninstalled McAfee's Firewall thinking that might have been the problem, but the issue still persists. I have gone through and shut down individual settings within McAfee looking for the culprit, but nothing seems to work. It's only when I shut down McAfee completely that I'm able to maintain that direct connection - so I know McAfee is the source of this problem.

I did not have this problem before the update. I would like to go back to my older version, but since I downloaded it straight from their website, I'm missing the .exe file. The tech support at McAfee have been exceedingly less than helpful and have suggested I actually purchase the older version from them...which is ridiculous because I give them enough money as it is.

So now, by suggestion from a friend, I turn to you for help! The ideal outcome would have McAfee be able to do its thing while allowing me my incoming and outgoing connection. Here are the stats:
