keeping DirectX updated

    Do DirectX updates install over existing versions? What do you do with all the extracted cab files, and where are they best extracted to?

    Yes.

    What do you do with all the extracted cab files ?

    After that you double click setup.exe.

    and where are they best extracted to?

    Any place you like, you could delete the files after install is finish....
