    How strong is the signal?
How far is the laptop from the WiFi antenna(s)?
How many and what kind of walls does the signal have to penetrate?
Are there any large metal objects near the laptop (refrigerator, table, etc.)
What WiFi protocol are you running?
    What WiFi router?
Add anything else you think will help.

If you have other computers on your home network and they do not lose the connection, then the problem points to the Toshiba.
If however, all computers lose access than the problem may be the modem or the router.

Do you know how to access the admin page for your router? There may be other devices nearby that are interfering with the channel the router is using. The default channel setting is usually "Auto" but you can manually set it to a different channel. Try different channels to see if any work better for you.
