I have windows XP and it loads up, I hear a weird clicking noise to the XP startup screen and it reboots, i had it running for 30+ mins and just kept rebooting. I tried safe mode and the other options. ALSO i have a windows XP disk but cant get it to load up and i press f4 to goto the BIOS settings but its passworded and I dont know the password. any ideas around that?

The clicking noise could be a dying hard drive. Can you slave it to another computer?

You can remove the bios password by taking out the cmos battery for a few minutes.

First, we need to be sure you are talking about a desktop? If so, you power down, open the case and remove the hard drive. Then in another computer, you will take the second connection on the ribbon that goes to your main hard drive and attach it to that. You will also need to attach one of your spare power connectors, just like when it was connected to the other computer. Before you make the connections, you need to see the diagram on the hard drive to set the jumpers to the slave position. You should then be able to check that hard drive to see if you can access your files and documents.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

And, if it's a laptop (or even if it's a desktop), you can use a USB adapter such as this one to pull any important data off to another machine.

ok yah the clicking was one of the HD's. I removed it and xp loads then i see a blue screen and it crashes. I have a working PC and is there anyway i can hook up my HD but boot into the working one and explore my hd too see whats in it before I reformat?

The working Pc doesnt have a ribbon like mine but i plugged it into the working pc with the hd in there and it tryed to boot in mine.
