    I have been getting this error daily in the event viewer, My laptop is an E-Systems 3086 Celeron M420 1.6 GHz 2Gb Ram 80Gb HDD Intel 940GML(Calistoga)+ ICH7-M 128mb shared graphics running windows 7 Ultimate(32bit). I know its not the best of spec's but it serves me well, I only use it for surfing/email and watching movies. What I would like to know is how to find out what firmware needs updating to stop this error. I also have had one or two errors with the ATPI saying it dectected a controller error on\ Device\Ide\IdePort1. Any advice on how to resolve these issues will be appreciated. If you need any more info please just ask and i will endeavor to give it.
    Thanks.

    I'm very interested in hearing the reply for this problem. I've had 288 of these error messages (EV log) in the past week. My pc now crashes to a black screen when playing selective games.

    PC: VelocityMicro Edge (upgraded) purchased November 2009
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (8 CPUs)
    Memory: 6144MB RAM
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11 (version that came with Civ V)
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295
    Driver Version: 8.17.12.5896
    Driver Date/Size: 7/10/2010 05:38:00
    Windows 7 64bit Patches current
    Avast Pro

    I've run chkdsk; defrag; full virus check; ran msconfig and only loaded win os, av and mouse driver;
    BIOS: Voltage Control ..enabled both Intel Speed Step & Intel HT Tech and changed CxE Function to C6... recommended by other sites
    None of these 'fixes' have helped .... the games crash to a black screen and the pc seems to loose connection with the video card.

    Please move this message to it's own spot if I am in error in adding my issue to iain.t's problem.
