Keyboard Input Issue

Hello,

I have been having some really strange issues with my keyboard while playing ANY and ALL games on my PC. Here is what happens:

If I am playing a FPS, it becomes impossible for me to jump, land, and then continue moving forward. It seems like my W key stops receiving input after a key combination; it also will stop receiving input after holding it down for some time.

Now, this all started happening one day as I was playing CoD4 online. I was in a server, and from what I could gather, some dip sent out a bug to everyone playing in the server. This prevented people from doing what I described above. Ever since then, I have not been able to use the W key in combination with other keys in a game.

I am at a loss here. Please, someone help me!

As an aside. I am able to successfully play games properly, but only because I switched forward walking from the W key to my back button on my mouse. Even then, i get a strange stutter when using the back button and a keyboard key together. Almost as if the inputs are crashing into each other.

Well if you are sure this is the source, and it is obviously not game specific perhaps you should go the antivirus route and reinstall the affected apps? Or am I missing something?

 

Are you noting any chuggy behaviour on other recource-intensive programs?
It could be a matter of memory-resident programs (things running), low computer performance. (What are you running?)
Make sure that all your drivers are updated, most of all, but not just your videocard drivers.
It might also be useful to know what game you are running and or what it requires, to see how well your computer falls within the minimum/optimal specifications.
Also some older keyboards can't manage with too many keys being pressed at the same time.
Try checking into each thing seperately.

 

if it's a cod4 issue, clean out the mods folder, that should be the only place anything is downloaded to while you are in a game.
