The secondhand Dell desktop I bought on Friday has a few dodgy keys.
678 in unshifted and shift mode.

Can someone recommend a keyboard key test program? Many years ago I had one.

I know I could google for it but posting here on MG might help out others, as well.

If I can't swop it back at the auction house (probably not) I know I will be up for a new keyboard. Bazza

Thanks matt. :) Too lazy to do the search myself. ;)
Will try it out, and report back tomorrow. Bazza

Partial quote from matt's link if anyone is interested in trying it out.

There is no good reason for just keys 6 7 and 8 to be affected. I'd bust it open and see if some spill got in there and hardened on the membrane.

I have to report that I didn't test the keyboard program yesterday.

Fourth day of the England versus Australia cricket test at the 'Gabba and the Aussie V8 Supercar races at Bahrain, both on TV.  Fifth, and final, day today. :D

Poms still need 355 runs to win and the Aussies need 5 wickets, with a weather change maybe in the afternoon.

Hopefully today after I try and argue with the Auction house over other stuff that I bought. Buyer beware, especially at auctions, but will try anyhow. Bazza

This is on hold for the moment until I solve my VGA problem and add some more RAM. I'm using another keyboard for the moment and will probably have to buy another keyboard anyhow. Bazza

Thanks to sl00py99, I was able to get XGA working instead of being stuck with VGA.

Should be able to check this keyboard program real soon now.:D
Still trying for more PC2100 Ram, at the right price, and then can tackle the keyboard problem. Bazza

 Hi, Bazza. Glad to be of service. On the keyboard thing, I did an extensive search for a test utility for you. Couldn't find any freebies for you anywhere. The PassMark utility previously mentioned is shareware, and apparently costs US $25 or so. Seems you could buy a new keyboard for less than that, and be done with it. I will say that the PassMark software does look like a nice piece of software. Good night and good luck.

Haven't tried the software as yet. I think there is a free trial.
I think the keyboard is stuffed, anyhow, so am looking at a wireless one for me, and will pass mine onto the Dell for #1 son. :D Bazza
