Keyboard lag... keep on running in one direction

Had this problem for almost a year.

When playing PC games (steam games, non-steam games) and using one of my wasd keys held down to move a certain direction, inevitably my character will continue running one of those directions after having depressed the keys. It goes on for a long time, shorter if I just randomly hit a bunch of buttons over and over again for several seconds.

Usually this makes me cannon fodder, and annoys me to hell so I quit and consider buying a new machine.

I've searched a lot for answers. Here's things I've done:

*Used usb, ps/2 and bluetooth keyboards
*turned off the blue tooth keyboards while using the others
*does it after a pretty much clean install of windows (drivers and such, but I've eliminated that there's malware)
*closed setpoint, (which I keep updated regularly)
    *disabled sticky keys
    *decreased/increased repeat rate
    *disabled various programs
*it did it with kaspersky, does it w/ bitdefender

Gahh what else can be done?

I noticed you didn't mention you cleaned your keyboard... :p

Seriously. You'd be amazed what a difference that makes. :)

Perhaps... but with three different keyboards, running independent of each other? I dunno

Hm... maybe not a dirty keyboard then. :-D

That is a weird, weird situation though.Which games are you having this issue with?

It's done it with all of them. Crysis, TF2, CSS, Prototype... any of them when you are running around with the wasd keys. I'm always in mid-firefight and it's like a wall starts sucking me towards it I can't move away from it by pressing the opposite direction, but rather that just makes me be stuck in one place, a sitting duck. Yeah, this computer didn't always do it though. I've had it for 2 1/2 years. Still runs everything great. Guess I should say screw it and get a new one. This gigabyte board m59sli-s5 was a good board at one point. I hate it now

What if you go into Notepad? Do the keys still stick and repeat the letter for a long time?

have you tried any of the boards on other machines?

also some wasd key/binding settings, if you hold down any of the keys for a period of time it locks it for you?

also is it laggy when it happens? might be something to do with the connection/ISP rather then the keyboard or PC?

dont get me wrong, you have probably done the above, just exploring different things ..

im racking my brain cos i had a similar problem with Splintercell & DooM and im trying to remember what i did rolleyes sorry that doesnt help :-D

as soon as ive had a memory spike and remeber ill either PM you or Edit this post lol !!

Thanks. I do computer repair so I should just throw up another machine and check that out, yeah. Seems like that would definitely fix it... the internet is really good, and I've had this thorugh the last 2 places I've lived, across the dfw metroplex.

The wasd binding comment is interesting, like maybe something is automatic bc I never implemented bindings.

The notepad comment. Interesting, it doesn't do that. Usually it takes about 1 minute in a round to begin that... didn't happen in two test in notepad.... must be a cpu thing?? amd x2 2.6 windsor.

sigh, I have a dell vostro 420 with a 2.8 core 2 duo, same ram specs... maybe I should throw my power supply unit and video card in there and just make it my gaming machine. I wonder if it'd be faster? that or i have another am2 board pretty similar tothe one I have now... ok, well I'll update you guys thank you all
