my keyboard has switched to french. when i try to put a question mark it does this - É. i think i accidentally did a keyboard shortcut that changed it, but i can`t figure out how to change it back to normal english, without rebooting my entire system every time. the keyboard properties under control panel doesn`t have any options.

    p.s.

why is it that when i ask a really tough question, you all bend over backwards trying to answer the question so as to look good, but when i ask a simple question, nobody can be bothered to help me.
    stuck up geekies.
    come on.

It has been a while since I've had this problem. I vaguely remember having to change things in two places. Looking at the options, one place should suffice.

Try Control Panel>Regional and Language>Regional Tab [Just make sure "English U.S." is shown]>under Languages tab choose Details then in drop down box for default options choose English U.S. if available. If not available choose add and then in the popup window select English U.S. and hit OK. Then go back to default drop down and select English U.S. and Apply.

    Hope this helps.

    EDIT:

Left ALT key + Shift is the default hot key for switching languages. Just using this may get you back to your default language. :)

I realize you have now had this problem solved, but I would like to make comment to your posting style.

Just because you consider this particular issue you were having as simple, does not mean the right person who happens to know the answer read your question soon after it was posted. Add to that the fact that you gave less than 20 minutes for a response to be made before accusing people of "not being bothered" and acting "stuck up", I think it was very reasonable of sach2 to take the time out of his/her day to answer your question at all!

Please try to remember that everyone is here voluntary, including the Admins & Moderators, and everyone has different specialist areas. Patience is appreciated :)

I know this thread is very old,;) but I just wanted to thank sach2 for pointing me in the right direction and as the posted XP fixes worked after a reboot in Vista Ult too! Seems like my thick fingers hit some combo of keys to frustrate us English speaking Canadians!:confused:wine:celebrate

Reading it now it seems a bit difficult to follow. I think it may have had pictures attached at one time.
