keyboard problem

iam not sure if this is the right forum, my friend is having problems with the keypad on laptop , everytime she presses a key it repeats its self also the when pressing spacebar she gets a dot , any help would be great, she thinks her little boy was pressing all the keys

She or her little boys haven't spilt any sticky liquid like fizzypop sugery beverages on the keyboard?? can i have the make and model of the laptop so as I can have a look for a service manual for it.
Does she encounter the same issue in safemode (f8 at boot) ?? has she tried using an external keyboard and does she still get the same issue ??
Also what OS and service pack is she running ?? if I got the link to the service manual for you would you be confident enough to remove the keyboard ?? it is a relitively easy task to do, and any problems you encounter I will run through with you, if you can remove the keyboard it will be a lot easier to clean, as i think rather than it being a hardware/software issue, it is just sticky keys that, a bit of warm soapy water and an old toothbrush will sort out.

thanks for your reply , i told her to do a system restore and it worked , not quite sure how it did though

 

Sometimes it's the simple things that work the best :-D. Thanks for the feedback and I am pleased that the issue is now resolved .
