Mom just bought a GE HO97798 keyboard, as a replacement for the gateway keyboard she decided to spill beer on too many times. Problem is, the keyboard seems to be very slow in response, as it's often times not registering keys hit when typing fast (my normal rate), or it'll just register a key press as if the key were held down.

What can be done with this keyboard to fix the problem? I can type at 70 words per minute w/o errors, but it took me 5 minutes on this message as the keyboard is glitching out all over the place (hell, it uses caps lock now even when caps lock is not on).

First opinion, you have a faulty keyboard, exchange it for another, especially with the weird faults you are discribing.

but before that just try this, enter device manager and delete the keyboard > reboot > the OS should say found new hardware and re-install the driver, if that doesnt work I would return it as I didnt find any options in Control Panel > Keyboard to change key press speeds ( only for character repeat )
