I dont know why but for some reason, My keyboard tab button isnt working fully.

For example, Let's say I am signing into yahoomail.

Ok, after I type in my screen name, I press the tab button so it will move the cursor to the box for my password. It wont do it...what it will do is skip over the password box and land on the submit button.

My tab button does that with many forms. When I attempt to move the cursor to the password field of any form, the tab button will not move it there, it will skip over it and land on the "submit" button each time.

Anyone know why my tab button is doing this? Its quite annoying.
I used to think it was My keyboard, even though nothing was wrong with it, but to be on the safe side, I purchased a new one ..but still the same issue.

So do I have something off that maybe should be turned on, or vice versa?

I cant seem to figure it out..

    Thanks in advance!

Go into Control panel, and click on the keyboard icon. Go through the settings and see if there is a strange setting concerning the tab key. Since you tried another keyboard, you can probably rule out hardware so now you have to look at software.

    Hi, thanks for responding..
Ive looked at my keyboard settings..there are no options to do anything with the tab button. only settings to change the cursor blinking speed, the repeat rate and the language. No other options.
Im using Windows ME....any other settings somewhere else?

    Thanks for your help!

Was your first keyboard a special one - like MS or Logitech? Did it ome with software to get extra keys functioning? Some keyboards let you open a browser, open email, put the computer into hibernation, control the volume....does yours allow you to do that? I'm looking for corrupt software that might need to be removed.

There are two codes that might give you a tab. Hold down the alt key and on the numeric keypad type 0009 this might give a horizontal tab. Hold down the alt key and on the numeric keypad type 0011 this might give a vertical tab.

No software came with it though..but it didnt always do this...just within the last year..but its so annoying.
Yes, some keys do allow me to do things like turn on the pc, control the volume, etc.

I tried both of those. Neither worked. Now I cannot click "enter" to submit..i have to use the mouse each time now. :(

If it's an HP and you have special keys then the software was loaded when you got your computer. Look through C:\Program Files (not the start menu listing of program files) and see what HP software is listed. There is probably some keybaord software.

What browser do you use? If FF can you duplicate the problem in IE by visiting the same web page?

I use Internet Explorer. I was using Advant a few months back, but I had the same problem.

I looked, and I see a HP folder, which expands to an "HPZ" folder, which then expands to a folder labeled :Glue".
I've no idea what that means..

How about trying Start>Control Panel>Keyboard and increasing the repeat delay time?
