    This program looked a little strange upon install. I also now have an empty folder in my windows folder named PIF. Is this program safe? Thanks! (Running XP SP2)

    Keyboard Tweaker 2.2
    Keyboard Tweaker is a Hotkeys manager. It transform a normal keyboard with 101/102 keys into a multimedia keyboard using the hotkeys. The program sets some combinations to the keyboard keys for a function.

    For example Ctrl+Alt+A may run one of the functions:

    * Speaker Volume Up
    * Speaker Volume Down
    * Speaker Mute
    * calculator, paint, solitaire, notepad or any other executable located on the hard drive
    * any kind of file with the associated program (like *.jpg)
    * e-mails
    * URLs
    * local paths (like C:\)
    * network paths (like \\Computer)
    * Hide/Show the application
    * icon attachment for every keys combination
    * lovely graphic interface
    * graphic detail configuration
    * skinable interface
    * easy configuration
    * support for Windows 2k/XP opacity (alpha blend)
    * registry configuration
    * minimize to System tray

    Alright, it's safe, but what is this PIF folder in my Windows folder?

    A program information file (PIF) is created when you create a shortcut to, or modify the properties of, an MS-DOS-based program. PIFs allow you to set default properties for MS-DOS programs, such as font size, screen colors, and memory allocation.
    When you change any settings in an MS-DOS-based program, a PIF is automatically created. The settings you specify will be used each time you start the program by double-clicking its icon. If you start the program from a command prompt window, these settings won't be used.
    Creating a program information file (PIF) for an MS-DOS-based program creates a shortcut to the program executable. All the settings saved in the PIF file are contained in the shortcut. Windows displays PIF files as shortcuts.

    Well it wasn't a PIF file but a PIF folder with nothing in it. :confused:

    Is there a difference between the PIF folder and a .PIF file?

    I mean, it shouldn't just create a directory in the Windows folder, correct?

    Does anybody else have a PIF folder in their Windows folder?
