Keyboard

Hello everyone,

My keyboard is acting weird, out of the blue, the key that holds this symbol, "~" starts going off and stops whenever it feels like it.

So you could be typing and then ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ all that appears.

I'm thinking it could be a virus, it suprises me really, but oh well... The ALEX virus seems to fit the description of my problem.

I'm running XP Pro and i was wondering if maybe, any of you, had a different opinion as to what the real problem could be.

Well ill ask the obvious have you scanned for viruses and spyware lately

 

also, have you checked that the button isnt sticking when you hit the return/shift/any key near to the ~tilde~ key?

That might sound stupid, so I apolgise in advance just incase...

 

I'd simply go and buy a $12 keyboard to see if the problem continues. Might not be the most efficient solution, but it's the easiest. Besides, you should always keep a spare keyboard on hand, in case you get popsicle juice on yours

I did check for all of the above.

Apparently it could be just a crappy keyboard, I haven't checked switching to another one yet, though i should have as part of troubleshooting routines. I guess i just thought of the worse from the start, specially because I remember someone having that type of virus.

So all in all, I really appreciate the answers and I'll switch over to the spare one i have.

If the problem continues I'll come back and keep you posted.
