This morning I recieved this email

I downloaded this version of CD Finder from MajorGeeks.com …
I put it on a floppy. My friend put it In his pc, went to save the cd key with the save tab, which brought up his options to save where as in c: drive or floppy, after he chose floppy, his computer completely locked up. The only thing I can get to is the setup screen. All of the boot processes are saying that none of them are installed as in; cd rom, floppy, hard drive and a bev drive (which I have not heard of). I can’t even go into safe mode. Unfortunately, he did not make a start-up disk.

Have you got any Ideas on this. I have used this disk on other computers while not using the save tab and just writing it down.
Does this program extract the cd key?

I am need of Major HELP. If I can’t figure this, I’ll have to have pay for any damage that has been done.

I can't really see how the program could cause this issue, but still feel I should offer some support.

Has anyone else had this issue, can someone test it using a floppy and does anyone have any suggestions!

Hi Matt

Tried two senarios........

Ran the KFTLite.exe from my C: drive and choose Save Report then picked Floppy to save the .txt report too and that too worked with no lockups.

Copied the KFTLite.exe to a floppy and ran it, choose Save Report > and choose Floppy as the drive to save the .txt report too and it saved ok, with no lockups.

Could not recreate this error.

Guess the error isn't related to kft, I didn't think it was but had to check.

I recieved this email this morning...

If my friend opened the cd Changer instead of the cd Finder and thought it was running to slow and ended the program before it was finished. Could this cause the pc to stop running? Like it had extracted the key that was in there already and hadn’t inserted the new one before it finished! Caught in the middle, so to speak!

Im not sure what changer he is refering to but my software doesn't write anywhere in the registry it only reads. The only writing is to save the repot to disk.

Hi Matt

I have no idea what they are talking about either, what are these mentioned CD Finder and CD Changer? they need to elaborate a little more on what software they are using and what they are actually trying to achieve! as if they are using a CD Key Changer then thats most likely the cause of their problems.
